In the news

21 Mar

The Daily Mail newspaper in the UK is one of my guilty pleasures. Lots of “family” news today.

Of all the things we value as a society, happiness is surely the most under-rated. We should plan time to do things that make us happy (this is something women – mothers, in particular – seem to be particularly bad at). We should plan time to do things to make other people, especially the people we care about, happy.

And possibly we should all have more sex 😉

    The MAIL?!?!
Crikey. That’s second only to The Sun in its ability to exaggerate the “interesting” aspects of a story with complete disregard for the truth.
I do hope you only read it for its entertainment factor, and not for actual “News”!

You’re right about planning time for happy-things. It always takes second place to family and work though, which I guess is why mothers are so bad at it.
It sounds great in theory though. If you ever figure out how to actually do it, do pass it on….. 😉

Oh definitely – that’s why it is a guilty pleasure, as opposed to an authoritative news source 🙂

I find their spin much more enjoyable than the Sun/Mirror etc

When I was in the UK, I tended to read the Guardian. No idea whether it has any real credibility as an independent news source, though.

Re: The Grauniad – Credible, yes; independent, not-so. But it’s certainly one of the best. And it’s fairly easy to detach the spin from the story (i.e. there is some story left!)

Your last point is definitely a good one, BTW 😉
