One of the super delights of having the tiler in is that we are unable to use our washing machine, which lives in the bathroom. We’ll in fact be unable to use it for about 5 days after he finishes the job, as apparently the vibrations can make the grout sad.

So today I packed up a week or so of laundry and headed off to the local laundrette.

Seven washing machine loads later, I discovered that I was out of $1 coins which were needed to run the dryers. As were Fraser and Claudia (I had raided their supplies before I came out).

So I packed it all up, came home, hung some on the line, put some in the dryer, put some on the clothes horse.

Twelve or thirteen hours later, I still have a bag of wet clothes and two baskets of damp clothes that didn’t *quite* dry on the line.

The interesting thing about doing it this way? I last did laundry on Monday. That was 5 days ago.

How do 4 people make so much laundry? Gaaahhh.

At least it was efficient. Next time we get back from holidays with two weeks of laundry? I might repeat the exercise. Especially as it will probably be Summer.

Now if only I could find an internet-enabled laundrette …

Hee! We went through this same thing not too long ago, when Rackham put down tile in the laundry room. He’d done most of the room except the bit with the washer and dryer, so we made sure we had EVERYTHING washed and dried, then pulled them out of there so he could tile and grout that last little bit. We only had to do without for about a week, and we barely squeaked by without having to do laundry at a friend’s house. I imagine it’s even worse with two kids tossing their clothes into the mix!

Sad? The grouting becomes sad? Or sag?
