Sock Detectives

29 Sep

As of this moment, Otto has 22 pairs of socks in her sock drawer.

That’s not 2 pairs of socks and a twitch.

That’s not 22 socks which would still be kind of excessive.

That’s 22 pairs of socks that fit her. As well as the pink spotty pair on her feet.

There’s also a Socks Singles Club that I know will see some matches soon.

Given that I am only away for 24 days total? That doesn’t bear thinking about.

Weirdly, the Bigster, for whom I thought I had bought more socks, only – or, rather, “only” has 10 pairs.

So far.

Preparations for travel have taken a turn for the domestic. Sorting laundry, folding school clothes and piling them in frighteningly OCD ways. Changing sheets on the kids’ beds.

Goal for this afternoon, though, is to pack. Tomorrow I have a work meeting, Wednesday I’m having my hair cut.

OMGYAY.

Looking forwards to meeting you at Essen, hopefully we can corrupt you by introducing you to the Warfrogs 😎
Are you going in to the show on Wednesday as well?

Yet my socks seem to be going missing at an ever increasing rate. Recently Otto selected a set of 5 pairs of socks for me, labelled Monday, Tuesday, …, Friday. One week I wore them all and then put all five pairs in the wash. When I looked I could find only three socks, one pair and one lone Thursday. Where oh where did the other seven socks go?

I am shrinking them and putting them in Otto’s drawer?
