There is an “animal husbandry aide” called Boar Mate. I remember hearing about this from a friend, years ago. You spray it on a sow to – errm – enhance her readiness to receive the boar. As it were.
I went looking because I needed to know the generic term for this type of product. While I think “Animal Aphrodisiac” is good, it might not be quite what is called for. Although it sure beats Animal Husbandry Aide.
Anyway. The thing I did not want to know, and will therefore share with you all: There are people who wear this stuff themselves.

They are called pheromones, I think, remembering from all the biology and animal science classes I took in college.
Surely you don’t mean people are wearing stuff to attract boars!?!?

Euuuuuuuuwwwwwwwwww – I don’t THINK that is why they are doing it – it’s more about trying to feel sexy, from what I can tell. I didn’t delve into it too deeply, for obvious reasons …

Yes – pheromones. Natural hormones that the body uses to send signals to others of the same species.
I believe best studied and documented in insects, but obviously this product must also be proven in pigs.
I don’t believe there is any scientifically compelling evidence that animal pheromones will work as aphrodisiacs in people (otherwise the perfume companies would cleaning up by now). I think people using it on themselves are more likely to find themselves being mounted by a pig than having their attraction increased to the opposite sex (of their own species!). But, I guess there’s a lot of lonely people out there willing to try anything…

I can only think the equivalent would be a board on BGG where people rub newly-opened game bits over their naked bodies in the hope of attracting other gamers.
