I don’t watch a huge amount of TV anymore (the internet sucks all my screentime) but when I do, I am a sucker for a strong story.
That said, Fraser and I bought a DVD of a TV series just after Christmas, purely on the strength of the cast.
When I tell you that it has Warren Thingamajig from Dalziel and Pascoe, Anthony Stewart Head from Buffy, and Jenny Agutter, you might understand why.
We have now watched the first four episodes of the Invisibles, a BBC One production that sadly was not renewed after 1 6-episode series in 2008.
It’s like New Tricks from the other side: the protagonists are expert criminals, who retired to Spain 20 years or so ago but have now moved back to Britain. Despite intending to keep on the right side of the law, they are constantly sucked in to various criminal schemes.
We enjoyed the first episodes, but the fourth episode was the one that really had us howling with laughter and falling for the show.
I recommend it highly.
